Special arrangements for security clearance for drop-off at the front entrance of the museum can be made for visitors with mobility needs. Drivers can reach the front entrance via Old Parliament Lane behind Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall. Wheelchair accessible vehicles can park beside the front entrance.

ACM is housed in a historic building with two accessible entrances (Front Entrance and River Entrance) with ramps that will lead you to the Visitor Services counter at the Museum Lobby.

All galleries can be accessed by lifts. There are three visitor lifts, and one stairlift in the museum:

• To go to galleries on Levels 1 and 2, take the lift behind the lobby OR the lift outside Court and Company gallery on Level 1.
• To go to galleries on Level 3, take the lift outside Court and Company gallery on Level 1, OR outside the Christian Art gallery on Level 2.
• To go to the basement, take the lift near the spiral staircase, opposite Privé cafe on Level 1.
• At the basement, a stairlift is available to bring visitors down a flight of stairs to the Ngee Ann Auditorium and other rooms.

All galleries can be accessed by wheelchairs and standard-size strollers.

A manual wheelchair is available for loan at our Visitor Services Counter on a first-come, first-served basis. For safety, only Personal Mobility Aids that do not exceed 120 cm in length, 70 cm in width, 150 cm in height, 300 kg laden weight, and a maximum speed of 6 km/h may be used in our galleries. Please store any loose or bulky items in the lockers at the museum lobby.

There are three wheelchair-friendly washrooms in the museum.

• On Level 1, near Empress restaurant.
• On Level 2, outside the River Room.
• At the basement near the lift and the spiral staircase.

A family friendly washroom with child-protection seat, baby changing station, and nursing room with hot water dispenser is available at the basement. Most of our washrooms have child-protection seats

Lockers and mobile charging station are located on Level 1, behind the lobby.

Benches are available throughout the museum on all levels. Most of these benches have armrests at both ends. Portable, foldable stools are free to borrow at the Visitor Services counter.

Service animals, including guide dogs and hearing dogs, are welcome in the museum. Visitors with service animals are encouraged to call the Visitor Services at +65 6332 7798 or email nhb_acm_VS@nhb.gov.sg at least two working days in advance.

Magnifying glasses are available to borrow in exchange for a photo-ID at the Front Desk.

For tour groups requiring more than 5 magnifying glasses, please call the Visitor Services at +65 6332 7798 or email nhb_acm_VS@nhb.gov.sg at least three working days in advance.

(Note: Magnifying glasses should be used with great care so as not to damage any artworks or showcases in the museum. They are of little use in the museum because showcases prevent visitors from getting close enough for the magnification range.)

A resource for independent learning both in and out of ACM, the ACM & Friends Fun Pack has been specially designed for children and adults across all learning abilities in consultation with SPD. Print out the activity sheets inspired by ACM objects, follow the instructions, and have an enjoyable time learning about these artworks through play. The puzzles and hands-on activities in the kit can be used at home or during a self-guided visit to ACM.

Museum Etiquette

• Children must be accompanied by adults at all times.
• Keeping our voices low will allow everyone to enjoy the galleries.
• Please refrain from touching any artefacts on open display. Touching artefacts, paintings, or works is prohibited because oil from fingers will contaminate and eventually destroy the objects.
• Your safety is important to us. Please do not lean on showcases as they can break under pressure. Please do not run in the museum as this may cause our artefacts to be knocked over.
• Students with prepared worksheets, please ensure that only pencils are used in the galleries. Pen marks on walls or panels are difficult to erase.
• Please eat or drink outside the museum. Our galleries need to be kept clean from food, spillage, and pests. Water bottles must be kept inside your bag.
• Please refrain from bringing large backpacks, trolleys, or other bulky items into the galleries.
• Please store large umbrellas in the umbrella stands or lockers. Foldable umbrellas must be kept inside your bag.

Photography & Filming

• Photography without flash and videography are permitted in the galleries.
• No images of the museum or its collection may be reproduced for commercial use without permission from ACM. Please contact our Corporate Communications team if you would like to seek permission or more information on commercial photography.
