Drawing on his experience as Lead Curator for Design and Architecture at M+ in Hong Kong, where he helped to build an internationally significant collection of material and visual culture from Asia, curator Aric Chen explores how institutions today represent “Asia” through collection-building and exhibition-making, as well as how these processes shape contemporary design discourse.

Offering unique insight from decades of curatorial practice across Asia, Europe, and beyond, including as Director of the Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam, Curatorial Director of Design Miami, and Creative Director of Beijing Design Week, Chen will open up questions around the future of design, culture, and heritage in the region.
